I
have practiced psychotherapy in New York City for over
15 years.
Previous to that, I lived and
practiced in Philadelphia. I attended graduate school
at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where I received
my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I
learned that family therapy is a model of psychotherapy
treatment, not just for couples or families, but for
individuals which can be a powerful, realistic and thorough
way of approaching psychological problems of all kinds.
In
family counseling,
people
are
viewed
not
only
as
individuals,
but
as
a
part
of
an
entire
system, where
members
have
their
roles
or
positions
which
often
influence
behavior.
So
my
training
was
not
only
in
traditional
psychotherapy,
but
in
this
expansive,
holistic
approach
where
the
impact
of
one's
past
and
current
system
are
deeply
considered
in
the
treatment.
I received further training at
The John Hevesi Institute in London, England for the
treatment of eating disorders: overeating and bulimia
in particular.I was on staff at Einstein Hospital in
Philadelphia, focusing on the treatment of depression
and anxiety.
I
am
on
the
board
of
the
New
York
chapter
of
the
American
Association
of
Marriage
and
Family
Therapy.
I
am
licensed
and
in
good
standing
to
practice
psychotherapy
in
the
state
of
New
York.
